Case 1:
- 23yo. G1P0. 18W.
- Leaking & PV bleed.
Gross examination:
- Fragments of placental tissue measuring 60 mm in aggregate.
Case 2:
- 26yo. G1P0.24W.
- Maternal pyrexia.
- FSB. BW: 675g.
Gross examination:
- Singleton placenta: Fixed, discoid
- Trimmed weight: 181.5g
- Disc measurement : 130x110x (15-23)mm
- Peripheral membrane : Incomplete, marginal insertion, cloudy
- Umbilical cord : 300x15mm, eccentric, amniotic web, 3 vessels, 5 coils
- Fetal surface : Diffusely opaque (cloudy)
- Chorionic vessels: Unremarkable
- Maternal surface: Complete
- Cut surface: Multiple scattered yellow-white nodules ranging from pinpoint
foci to occasional larger coalescent lesions measuring up to 1 cm.
Case 3:
- 17yo. G1P0.
- Pregnancy complicated by antenatally diagnosed non-immune hydrops fetalis.
- Fetal MRI demonstrated bilateral ventriculomegaly.
- EMLSCS at 36W.
- Liveborn infant. BW: 2740g
Gross examination:
- Singleton placenta: Fixed, discoid
- Trimmed weight: 460 g
- Disc measurement: 155x150x (22-28) mm
- Peripheral membranes: Complete, marginal
- Umbilical cord: 300x10 mm, inserted 17 mm from edge, 3 vessels; 8 coils
- Foetal surface: Semi-opaque, focal fibrin plaque at the centre 20x15 mm
- Chorionic vessels: Normal distribution, dilated vessels
- Maternal surfac : Complete
- Cut surface: Homogeneous brown-red parenchyma with scattered small, ill-defined pale yellow-white firm foci
predominantly within the central disc and marginal fibrin.
Case 4:
- 22yo. G1P0.
- Unknown pregnancy.
- MSB. BW:1260g
Gross examination:
- Singleton placenta: Fixed, discoid
- Trimmed weight: 392.39 g
- Disc measurement: 220x170x (25-30) mm
- Peripheral membrane: Complete, semi-opaque, marginal
- Umbilical cord: 210 x 16 mm, central, 3 vessels, 5 coils
- Fetal surface: Diffusely opaque to cloudy
- Chorionic vessels: Unremarkable
- Maternal surface: Complete
- Cut surface: Diffusely homogeneous pale fleshy parenchyma with mildly bulbous placental lobules.
No focal lesions are identified.
